Stelios Arhondakis

CEO / Founder

Stelios (Stilianos) is the Founder and CEO of BioCoS. He has a Biology degree – Bioinformatics (laurea; Master Equivalent) from the University of Bari (Italy), and a PhD in Human Genetics from the Université Paris Diderot-Paris VII (France), with très honorable avec felicitations du jury (highest academic honor in France). Holds +15 years of experience in bioinformatics, and he has been actively involved in several research projects. He has a long list of publications in international peer-reviewed journals, counting more than 200 citations.

Athanasia M. Dourou

Athanasia is our Chief Technology Officer. She is a Molecular Biology/Biotechnology expert with a PhD in Agrobiodiversity from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy). Her 10 years scientific experience combines wet bench laboratory techniques of Molecular Biology with Analytical Chemistry. During her academic career, she acquired basic bioinformatics knowledge from the Biotechnology Center of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, WI, USA).

Dimitris Tsakiris

More than 30 years of P&L experience in international sales. Broad industry experience in hands-on B2B Sales & Marketing of technical products. Worked with or for German companies at C-level in both Sweden and Germany. Currently he is guiding BioCoS sales in the D-A-CH region. Fluent in four languages and very large cross-cultural experience.

Stella Moraiti

Stella holds a BSc in Logistics and an MBA from the Technical University of Crete, specialized in Marketing. She is responsible for the creation, launching and coordination of BioCoS’s campaigns across Digital Marketing Channels. She also coordinates our monthly newsletter.

Georgia Kesisoglou

Georgia has a rare background, combining BSc in Biology (University of Crete) and MSc in Data Science and Information Technologies – Bioinformatics and Biomedical Data from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Thanks to her excellent programming skills, she is responsible for the processing of omics & DNA data incorporating ML techniques, to extract relevant features addressing challenges in the food and health sectors.

Eva Lampropoulou

Eva is a Biologist (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens) and holds a MSc in Horticultural Genetics and Biotechnology from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania. She is responsible for the execution, validation and scalability of BioCoS’s DNA based solutions, connecting experimental outcomes to applicative solutions for the food industry.

External Advisory Team

Solon P Pissis

He is Principal Investigator at the Life Sciences and Health research group; Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI), and holds a Ph.D in Computing from King’s College London (UK). His research area is algorithms and data structures on sequences and trees e.g., pattern matching; indexing; comparison; and finding regularities. Applications thereof include bioinformatics, information retrieval, text mining, and pattern recognition.

Nikos Manouselis

Founder and CEO of Agroknow, the food safety intelligence company that extracts tailor-made data insights for the global supply chain. He is an Electronics & Computer Engineer that holds two MSc degrees, as well as a PhD on Agricultural Information Management. With +15 years of expertise in the intersection of data and technology for food and agriculture, he is frequently working with industry and international organizations on ways in which technologies may be used to help solve challenges in the food supply chain.

Karan Kaler

Presently is Professor Emeritus of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary (Canada). He is a registered Professional Engineer and elected Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). His research focuses on the fundamental study and application of electrical fields to biological materials, and development of lab-on-a-chip devices, for various biotechnology and biomedical applications.

Bob Stavrou

Bob has more than 20 years of experience in the Medical Diagnostic sector. Mr. Stavrou’s career ranges from Strategic Advisor to the Center for Innovation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to Quest Diagnostic and LabCorp.  Most recently he held a leadership role in Machine Learning at Neogenomics Laboratories, a leading cancer diagnostic reference laboratory in the US.
